Wheel spacers
I have a 91 RS and when I removed the rear wheels there are spacers between the drums and wheels. Does anyone know what they are for?? When I bought the car the guy said that he broke a tooth off the ring gear and had the whole assembly replaced from a salvage yard, it had 2.73 gears and a posi unit, suppose to have 3.08 and an open diff. Have no clue why the spacers are on there.

If they are the real thin ones, like ¼" thick or less, they were put on cars with iron drums, to simulate the thickness of aluminum drums or disk rotors. AFAIK they are not functional once the car is assembled (that is, they don't do anything to its operation); they were put there only to make the external dimensions of the rears all the same, so that automatic assembly equipment could function properly.
