Need Serious Help!
I'm having some problems with my transmission leaking. I just changed the filter and the gasket at the oil pan. I started the car and looked under the vehicle and saw it leaking from the pan. Now I understand that I just have to tighten the pan bolts a little more, but I don't know how tight to tighten them. How much torque should I put on them?
I'm not that great yet at identifying the parts on the transmission as I'm still learning, but I have another leak. Right in front of the transmission pan is a round, black looking ball with a single hole at the bottom of it. I saw transmission fluid leaking from their also. I have no idea what it is. If you're looking at the pan from underneath it's the part right after it with a hole at the bottom of it. What is this and why is their transmission fluid leaking from it?
Please help

Not sure of the torque specs for the pan bolts off the top of my head, but it's not much. To tighten them, start from the center most bolt, and work your way around the pan in a criss cross pattern. As far as the black looking ball thing, I assume you are talking about the torque converter rock shield. If there is tranny fluid coming out of the weep hole, that means your transmission's pump seal is leaking.

Ok. I just found out that the black cover was the torque converter shield. It has this little hole at the bottom and when I parked the car after running it I saw fluid coming out of it. Your saying the pump seal is bad. Is this something that I can do myself or should I just take it to a shop to do?
I replaced the pan gasket but I noticed a small leak coming from one of the bolts. I didn't know what torque to tighten them to so I just tightened them till they were snug. If I tightened too hard and broke the gasket would tranny fluid come out really fast because all I have right now is a small drip from 1 spot near the bolts.
Are there any other seals or gaskets around the transmission that I should replace since I'll be replacing the pump seal?

Well, it is kinda a confusing job if you dont know what you are getting into. You say you dont know trannies too well, so it may be a tough job for you. Basically, you gotta remove the transmission to replace the front pump seal. No way around it. It's easy to replace the seal from there though.
As far as the tranny pan bolts torque is concernd, if you really want to do it by the torques specs, just go down to your local autozone, use them as a library and grab up a camaro book for your year. Browse through it till you find it. Memorize and go home.
