Transmission Fubar'd

87 Camaro IROC-Z, 350 TPI, Automatic
all stock that i know of (except for parts that i've had to replace <_<)

Anyways, I did a big tuneup and replaced tranny fluid and tranny filter, since then the transmission has been slipping for a long *** time, now.. just the past week it got worse. That was back in July that I did that.

Today, it stopped shifting into third. I wasn't driving the car, so I don't know if there was a noise or anything... The transmission fluid is fine (just filled it up), TV cable adjusted, again (adjusted it before and it was still slipping)

D and OD, it won't shift into Third.
Reverse and D/OD first and second are fine, and 1 and 2 work fine on the shifter

but when it's time for D/OD to go into third, it won't. It acts as if it's in neutral

If i downshift into 2 MANUALLY, the car will shift and will drive in second gear fine

Is there something else I can check, or is the transmission dying? I know when it goes out, you start losing gears.. but perhaps it's something else that's going out..

Lastly, how much does it cost to get this thing rebuilt .. or replaced (both prices if possible)

You are going to need a trans rebuild, most of the th700`s fail exactly like that.

Yeah, but it's not a club you really want to join, though

Dead Tranny

Well I too have joined this club today with my 700r4. Was about to Order my Christmas present to myself this morning (Bushmaster M4A3) and the car decided that the funds put aside for my present belonged to it instead so it was sadly towed away to the tranny shop for an $800 dollar rebuild. Wish I had my Shop done I would rebuild it myself and save a ton 'o cash.
