LS1 t-56

alright guys, this is going to be my next project after i get the cash...i am tierd of dealin with the crappy 700r4 goin out on me. but i've heard that it's better to go with a t-56 from a LT1 cause they bolt up easier or are a different length or something...someone want to correct me? but anyways...the bottom line is i want a LS1 with a t-56 behind it...tell me what the best way to go about it is...i was wanting to buy a parts car with it all in it so i have all the harnesses and such (cause i also am wanting to do a dash and console swap) and it's just make it much easier

the way the bellhouseings bolt to the engine are different on a lt1 and a ls1. the ls1 is different then the regular small block. as far as getting a ls1 and a t56 the easy way and the only way i know of is to find a wrecked car and pull it from that.

Input shaft length is different also. Cheaper just to find an LT1 donor than to rework an LS1 trans or buy an aftermarket bellhousing.

The two are easy to visually distinguish, the LS1 has a hydraulic slave/throwout assembly mounted on the input shaft, where the LT1 has an external piston-type slave cylinder and fork.
