Differential questions

So I'm looking to buy either 97-02 10-bolt 7 5/8" 3-series Torsen (torque sensing) or 93-99 10-bolt 7 5/8" 3-series limited slip carrier. I'm wondering which would be better for a v6. Also would I need an install kit with that? I'm gonna have someone else install it for me. Also would 3.42 gears for $65 be worth it for an upgrade? I have stock 3.23 I beleive.... All the stuff is used. $100 for either differential.

as long as the carrier series was the same all you need to do is swap your ring gear to the new carrier, check back lash and contact. if you change gears you'd want the install kit, i doubt you see a world of differance changine from what you have

backlash and contact? I know nothing about rear ends except how to somewhat change the drum brakes... Would even 3.73 be worth it? The car will always be a v6 and automatic... And which is better, the torque sensing rear end or the plain old posi? I live in New Hampshire so quite a bit of snow driving...
