Car moves with no gas ?

Tried doing a search but the combination of words I put in didn't bring much up. Problem with my 700R4 is, with car in drive and not stepping on gas pedal car will move and get up to like 15-20 mph. Also it slips going from 2nd to 3rd. Any ideas on problem or word search ? Is it a clutch problem like on a manual trans ?
Thnx in advance....

I was going to say take a look at the vacuum modulator valve myself. but I think you might have a deeper problem. I had one of these go bad on older 3rd gen and it was sucking the fluid right into the throttle plate (smoked REAL bad). A bud of mine had a similar problem to yours but no where near the speed. Thought maybe your curb idle but you ruled that out already.

Since it doesn't have a vacuum modulator, that can't be affecting it... With it only idling at 450 there shouldn't be much forward motion possible.. hmmm

I don't know much about transmissions either Chris but I was thinking along those same lines. I was thinking like a clucth was engaged or something like that. Well thanks for trying.

Mine will drive itself down the road as well. Even upshifts when it has to.

Id be alot more concerned with the slipping/flaring between shifts. Thats a sure sign that the trans is toast and in need of a rebuild. Even if it was just a mis-adjusted tv cable the clutch frictions have probably already been burned. Its still worth checking the TV adjustment, though. Mine had the same problem but only worse. It would flare up to 6-6.5k between shifts and never hook back up. Put 20k miles on it like that. Didnt decide to pull it untill the car lost most of the forward gears. I figured that was as good a time as any to rebuild it.
