Bad to drive around in OD?
Hi there,
I have been told by many people that its very bad to drive around say "in town" while your in Over Drive. Yet some say its perfectly fine to drive around in Over Drive, its just using a differnt Gear ratio. or something of the sort.??? ANy Ideas??

It used to be bad, I'm pretty sure they fixed all those problems by the time thirdgens hit the market. If you've got a trailer then dont use OD.

The 700R4 dose not shift into OD until you hit 40 MPH, so when you drive around town you are in 3rd gear until 40 MPH. So it makes no difference, keep it in OD.

Axle/Gears: 14 bolt with 3.07 gears
Only time you need to shift into 3rd is if the transmission starts hunting into and out of overdrive or the converter clutch starts hunting as in mountain driving. Letting the transmission continually upshift and downshift overheats the clutches and fluid, leading to potential failure. Other than that drive in OD
