trans casting numbers

Transmission: A4
Axle/Gears: 3:42
Trans Casting Numbers?
Getting ready to install a shift kit and went to look at the trans casting numbers and the 4th digit which should be a M for a 700r is a 1. And the first digit that indiacates year is a 5 = 1985. When I did the trans service I used a 700r kit the gasket and filter fit fine. any thought.
