700r4 lockup or non lockup?
i have a 92 chevy 2wd truck thats been built into a steet truck with a built 91 tpi from a z28 about 320hp, i have a 700r4 and i put a b&m 2000 hole shot in it, well i thought i got the lockup but i guess not cus im not goin into lockup, what do you guys think should i put a lockup in or just keep the nonlockup? what are the pros and cons over lockup and non? the trans have over 1200$ worth of performacne parts, and i have one of the biggest trans coolers b&m makes!
Lockup: In 3rd or 4th gear, Impeller and Turbine inside Torque Coverter LOCK which equals a 1:1 ratio.
Non-Lockup: Turbine and Impeller never rotate at the same speed, closest they come is a 10% difference.
Difference is Gas Efficiency. Better gas mileage with Lockup, but Lockup Torque Converter is also a bit heavier.
