v6 200r4 -350 block?

I have an 82 Camaro Sport Coupe with a blown th350. I built a 77 Nova 2 bolt 5.7 for the car. The car was sold to me minus engine and, when I pull it, minus trans. I started to rebuild a 700r4 from an 86 Z28. I got as far as the front oil pump cover wich will not come off. I tried everything to get it apart with no luck. I asked local trans shops what they do when these front covers seize, and they said it should slide right out. My question is how do I rebuild this trans since the clutches are worn, or will the 200r4 from my 90 RS 2.8 parts car bolt to my 5.7 block? I asked the chevy dealer parts department and they said that the 200r4 in my parts car uses a universal bell housing. They said that these transmissions were standard equipment on fullsize GM cars and Monte Carlos, or 4.3 trucks. Can anyone help me to dispell any myths about the 200r4 or tell me how to take my 700r4 apart?

There is a GREAT DEAL of confusion and mis-identification here.

A 90 RS with a 6-cyl (or a V8 for that matter) doesn't have a 200; it has a 700.

No it will not bolt up to a V8. Or for that matter to a 4.3, which uses the V8 bell housing flange, and not the 60° 6-cyl bolt pattern like your 90 RS 6-cyl 700 has.

Sounds to me like there's at least one bolt you haven't taken out of your 700 front pump yet.

The trans in your camaro is not a 200 4R. Like RB83L69 said, it's a 60* mounting 700R4

The 200 4R came in 80's G bodys, caddys etc. The ONLY F body that got the 200 4R was the 1989 TTA (turbo trans am) which also had the buick 3.8L turbo v-6 in it.

IMO the 200 4R is the better trans, but thats not the question here.

Some of the cars that had them was (not all of these had em though)
'84-'88 Chevy Monte Carlo
'84-'87 Chevy Malibu
'86-'90 Chevy Impala
'83-'88 Olds Cutlass
'81-'90 Olds 88 or 98
'84-'87 Pontiac Grand Prix
'83-'87 Buick Regal

Like only the SS monte got em', The T type regal, etc
Also the Buick grand nat got the 200 4R.

As the part dealer told you the 200 4R does have a universal bell housing. But It still wont fit a 60* engine, only 90* chevy, buick, olds, pontiac. I'm sure you heard of the BOP bolt patt. Well the 200 4R had the BOP patt. Plus the chevy patt.

The 700R4's never came in the universal bell housing, They have a BOP case, and a chevy case.

The 2.8L v-6 and all is 60*, it uses a diff bolt patt, but now the 4.3L v-6 is a 90* engine and uses the same patt. as a chevy v-8

As far as the F body line and auto transmissions..
1982-83 for th-200's (not 200 4R) It was a 3 speed metric weak transmission.

Then 1984 up got the 700R4 which was later (early 90's) renamed 4L60,

then in the 4th gens they started useing an all computer controlled trans, which was the same trans (700 R4/4L60) but now some of the mech. stuff was gone and ran with a computer and it was named 4L60E

Thanks, I could tell it looked different but would have had to yank the 700 just to be sure. I didnt miss any bolts on the oil pump cover but I've been told that they tend to stick where the input shaft is adhered to the outer one.
