Rear Differential Help
1991 Camaro RS 305TBI Non-posi rear end
I want to upgrade to a limited slip. Can I put a new differential in without having to change the whole rear setup? Do I have to change out the whole rear assembly? What should I get? Specs? Thanks

Well I just recently went to my local junk yard and had a 9-Bolt Limited Slip 2.77 Disc rear pulled from an 86 TransAm for $250 and I went ahead and grabbed the Proportioning valve from the same car which was $15 I think I havent gotten around to installing it yet though...Im in the inspection/cleaning phase
To the best of my knowledge you can swap your rear end for any rear out of a Camaro/Firebird between the years of 1982-1992 so that leaves you with many options. As long as your rear suspension is in good shape all you have to do is drop the axle and swap it. however it would seem to me that this is the optimal time to upgrade things like sway bar, control arms, shocks/springs If none of that applies to you then all you should need is Time, Tools, and one or two friends...and a couple jacks/sets of jack stands
If all you want is a Limited Slip Diff then it is simple try searching the local junk yards, or eBay
I'm not sure where you are located but I might be able to point you in the direction of a 3.73 Posi rear with disc brakes in Kingston, Ontario (about 20-30 min from U.S. border)
