Rear Gears Question

Im going to be buying either 3:73's or 4:10s to my 89 iroc.I was just wondering if there is a difference between thin/thick gears. Some guy replied to me saying he had a set of Richmond 4:10s but not thick gears??Is there any major differences between the two??Or jsut that one set is thin and the other is thicker?

Depends on what carrier you a 2 or 3 series. If you have a 2- series you need the thicker gear for it to work.

i think the smartest thing to do would be to use standard gear set and a shim, if needed, so the gear would work either way. if you buy the thicker gear set you limit yourself on what carriers it'll fit.
