Rear End question.

I did some searching around and I really can't find anything that would help me figure out what kind of rear end I have. I just rebuilt my engine and a family member suggested I should upgrade to a positive traction rear end. I know the rear end isn't a stock rear end, the previous owner said it had drum brakes, but was upgraded to a PBR rear end with 10.5 disk brakes. So, is there any way to tell what the rear end is without taking the cover off? I live in the woods, so its a bit hard to do some higher end work on it. Thanks for any help!

count the cover bolts will tell what kind of rear you have. pulling the cover will tell you what kind of carrier you have.

Ok, thanks for the info, Ill count the bolts next time im working on the car. I can get it to a lift to take the cover off once I get it running, which of the 2 would tell me if the rear is a posi traction unit? Thanks for the help.

you can tell it's a posi, or not, by looking at the carrier
