Transmission wont shift? vaccum?
Hi, new to the Third gen forum! I got a Big problem with my 87 305, under full acceleration the tranny wil redline and wont shift till you let off the gas. now this is a BAD problem. Now it seems like a vacumm problem because at WOT the pressure will drop and its not strong enough to shift until you let off and the pressure builds up then it will shift. Now at first I thought OK, vaccum modulator right? well someone told me that our transmisisons do not work on vaccum. what now? thanks

I assume you have a 700r4? If so there is no vacuum modulator.
The problem is worse.......usually this is a sign that your clutch bands are going bad. Which means your transmission may be on its way out. Or it could possibly be the TV cable.

I have the smae problem.
I installed a cold air intake on it the day the problem occurred.
I went to leave my house and stopped at a stop light
The car jerked forward like it was going to take off on it's own.
Then when i was in town i put it to the floor and when it got to about 30 mph it slowed down so i let off.
I tried it again and it would not shift into 3rd gear. Once it gets to a certain rmp it is like it is neutral.
I drove for five minutes today and it is worse,
it won’t hardly shift into second.
Could it be a vacuum sensor, or is my transmission going out.
I need help fast, I’m starting collage soon and i need my car.

yea. probably a tv cable adjustment or the like.. I know my 700r4 does have a vac line connected to it, I just always figured it was for the Torque Converter lockup

I have had several 700r4's out. No vacuum lines. Just a couple wiring connectors. That is how the TC lockup is activated.

Sorry. but it has a vac line on it. it is a completely non electronic 700r4. 1983 original. i have had it out as well, and no wires to it just the linkage for the selector, and the vac line that runs into it. I do not think they were electrnoically controled in 1983 anyhow.. i am pretty sure that came a little later.

The 700R4 does NOT have vacuum on it. In it yea, on it NO. I belive the 350/440 and the 200 have vacuum. Get the casting numbers.
