transgo shift kit
ok so i was calling around shops here in ohio to get quotes on shift kit installation....soo the good thing was they all told me to stay away from B&M if i want my tranny to last....which is kool cuz im going with the transgo......but every place i called said they had to drop the tranny to do it and it would run bout $375....ok im not stupid and i know u dont have to drop the tranny and 375 is way to much.....my question is this....im not stupid when it comes to cars...im a mechanical person ive done my own valve seals..ive put cams in before and stuff like that......ive never touched a tranny tho....if i attempted to do this kit my self would i mostly likely mess it up ro is it fairly simple

You don't have to drop the transmission, but it's a lot nicer than working over your head. Did the $375 include the cost of the kit?

You can install the kit while the tranny in the car unless if you are installing High Rev kit springs for 3-4 cluches.

The TransGo shift kit is fairly complicated to install. You don't need to remove the trans from the vehicle, unless you get into other mods like the stiffer clutch pack springs or 10-vane pump guts. I would say $375 is absurd for a B&M kit. They are slam bam thank you m'am deals. The TransGo is a lot more involved, which is why it is a better kit. You actually have to drill some holes in the valvebody, not just the seperator plate. If I could do the kit on a lift I would say probably 4 solid hours of work. At $50 and hour thats $200. The kits is like $150 or so I think, so if that $375 includes the kit I wouldn't say it's far off. If it doesn't and all they are doing is the kit I'd say it's a bit steep.
If you feel like you're up to it just do it yourself. It isn't that hard, just time consuming. Plenty of people here run them, so if you get stuck you've got the resources to figure it out.
