S-10 rear end for '89 Formula?
I read somewhere that the rear end in the S-10 pickups were the same as the factory for the firebird. Are the shock mounts and other parts the same? Will the rear end in the Blazers work too? I am trying to replace an open rear end in my Formula (long story)

No it will not work.
It's the same "model", the GM 7½"; but the housing is COMPLETELY different. All the internals interchange, but not the housing.
The only housings that will bolt into these cars without extensive modification of the car or the housing or both, are the ones from F cars, 82-2002. 93-up ones will bolt in but the housing is about 3½" loger, flange to flange; it will only work properly with 4th gen wheels or others with the same offset.
