Hi All,
I just had a new clutch put in my T5, and I noticed that when I am in 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear around 2000 - 3000rpm there is kinda like a sqeaking / chirping sound. As soon as I get above that range I dont hear it anymore, or if I push the clutch in, it stops.

Do I have a bearing going? or is something else way wrong? or is this normal for a new clutch?

Thanks in advance for feedback.

I should add that its a stock replacement clutch, and the flywheel was resurfaced when the clutch was done because it had some scoring from the previous clutch.

I take it that the noise speeds up w/ rpms correct?

Does the car seem to drive ok? Don't take this the wrong way, but did you check the fluid level in the tranny and clutch? It doesn't sound like a pilot bearing, but it may be a throw out bearing. Just a guess though. Did you repack that bearing w/ grease?

Sometimes all you have to do is grease the clutch fork pivot ball, there's a tech article that cover this on the main page.

Yeah, the car drives fine. I didnt do the clutch myself, so as for whether the bearings were repacked or not, I cannot answer.

Im going to talk with the guy I had do the work and go from there. Thanks for the advice all

lol, there's actually a tech article? That's great. I'm going to write one up that tells people how to "Fill up at the gas station".

Actually that sounds exactly like what is going on.

I dont have anyplace to do what the article says, so I will just live with it. It really isnt very bad, I just noticed it following having the clutch replaced.

My preferred mechanic is about 200mi. away, so I will get it done the next time I take the car back.

Thanks for all of the help guys. I really appreciate it. I was concerned that perhaps something wasnt right, that I should be worried about.

all you really need is a jack, jackstand and a patch of something hard to jack on. I did this fix and it worked.......for a while The chirp eventually came back, but I plan to go back at it sometime this summer. FWIW I find it rather annoying. oddly enough, my m*stang does the exact same thing.
