shifter to ashtray interference with Tremec swap
For those interested, here is a pic of my shifter. I recently swapped in a TKO 600 and was told that the shifters available for this trans would hit the ashtray. I purchased a Pro 5.0 shifter, lengtheded the stick 2" and it fits great. with no other mods to the shift stick i still have about 3/4" between the stick and my console plate. This shifter does not sit in the center of my console but i am tall so this fits me better anyway, it is in a very comfortable position for me. Hope this info can be helpful to someone else who had this dilemma, or who may have it in the future.

thanks Z appreciate the pic.
I dont get why in the world they say theres interferance with the ash tray in the forward gears, that seems to be the main concern. How long is the actual stick? The hurst bar im getting is 8" long with a 3" bend and i hope it doesnt stick out too high
wish i had your gauge cluster lol, the 90-92 cluster you cant just put an aftermarket gauge in and im not gonna have a speedo

As long as the pullback is in the right spot on the shift stick you should be fine. I did not measrure the height of the Pro 5.0 stick but when i first put it in the *** was only 1" above the top of the console, it looked silly and was hard to drive, so i lengthened it about 2" and its better now. It is deceiving how far the floor is away from the top of the console. When most people see the shifter they say "man that thing is kinda short" but they dont realize that the floor is like 5" below the top of the console. Let me know how it works out for you, I almost got the shift stick you are using.
