Trouble removing T5 extension housing
I attempted to install my new speedo gears but I could not separate the offset shift lever from the shift shaft. My install instructions said that tapping down the roll pin (circled in pic) would free it from the shift shaft. When I took the shifter off the roll pin had already been pushed/tapped down flush with the shift level housing. It didn't budge and I didn't want to damage it so I left it be for now. Needless to say I couldn't remove the extension housing without being able to slide the shift lever from the shift shaft. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance guys.

Get a drift punch, just slightly smaller than roll pin,and drive it THRU the clevis/rod assy,it will be laying in the top part of the case after you pull it apart(same area n as it is now, just underneath)
Just make sure you gather the pin/and theres also a ball bearing and spring in there too

I just did this to my T-5 this weekend

Thanks for the reply. I tried a few times to punch the pin down but it didn't budge. I will use a different punch next time aling with a little more elbow greese. It doesn't even appear to be a pin as the inside is hollow with a slit down the side.

Correct, that is a "roll pin."
The correct tool for the job is a roll pin punch which has a half sphere located at the centre of the flat face of a drift punch tip.
Either you're being a girl about this, or someone boned you and installed a second roll pin, in which case you're hosed. If the car shifted fine before, it's the former, not the latter.
