i kinda posted a similar question a few days ago, but this is more straightforward...
I got: 84 z28 305 HO, 700r4 auto, 85k miles
my problem: after changing the transmission fluid, i have noticed that my car will not squeal tire where it used to. for example when its floored from 1st to 2nd, it will not even chirp although it seems to pull strong, and when it does shift it gives a good jolt, but no bark from the tires(unless i'm in the middle of turn from a stop sign for example). the fluid wasnt real dirty or burnt or anything when it was drained. the car still shifts normally when driven at normal speeds.
now, after doing some searches on the board, the tv cable comes up. i'm not very educated on transmissions, but is this the cable that is bolted on the side of the transmission pan? when i drained my fluid, i didnt bother disconnecting that cable from the mount that was bolted to the pan. i just unbolted the entire mount and moved it aside. when i was done, i just bolted it right back to the spot on the pan with the two bolts where it was originally. does this need adjusted with each fluid change or what?
i understand guys, that this IS a 305 and I dont expect it to burn the tires out or anything. I just want it to give some bark to give it a better sound when i'm pulling ricers from stoplights!
thanks guys.

Hey. no the cable bolted to the driver's side of the trans is the shift cable.. it is connected to the shifter in the car. the TV cable is connected to the carb or TB and runs to the passenger side of the trans. Go to www.700r4.com they have all kinds of information for you there.

I actually have the opposite problem. My car hits like Ive been rearended. Only when its really cold, but if its raining, It'll break loose at part throttle. I recently changed my fluid also. My biggest problem is it takes to long to drop into gear after moving the handle. Sometimes a couple of seconds. Ive also been told its the T.V. cable.

yea.. to get it just right you need to adjust it until you hit the right preassures.. most times you can not get it exact

you can adjust the tv cable by hand at the carb or tb and it's pretty obvious which way raises the trany pressure and which way lowers it once you drive it after you've adjusted it. as for your car hitting hard inbetween shifts, i had the same problem and raised my trany fluid pressure(adjusted the tv cable) because it gave me harder shifts. little did i know that it tore my tranny up in about 10000 or 15000 miles. i now have to get a new trany or rebuild mine. so yes it's very important where your trany fluid pressure is and it would be worth getting a pressure gauge and hooking it up to youre trany right before it gets to your tranny cooler to find out where yours is at.

A little off topic, but did the 4L60E transmission have that tv cable? I mean. it seems like the tv cable is the primary source for a transmission for kickin the bucket, considering most people do not have the guages or the knowledge needed to adjust it to right where it needed to be.
