Is it possible to put a t56 onto a bbc? If so what parts would be needed?Would there be any other problems?

 

Do they make a T56 flywheel for a BBC?

My new 540 has an Eagle stroker crank that's internally balanced. Since it's internally balanced, I only need a 350's flexplate and not an externally balanced 454 flexplate. I suppose if you go that route with an internally balanced BBC, it would work using a normal T56 flywheel.

Bellhousing bolt pattern is the same on BBC and SBC.

 

I've heard of guys running a T56 behind a big block but they weren't specific as to exactly how they accomplished it. The way Stephen 87 IROC explained it could have been how.

I'm in the process of swapping to an aftermarket T56 behind my 383 right now. I'm running a 305 flywheel for a 2 piece rear main seal eninge (I'm using 1976 block) with a balance plate (basically adds the offset balance of a 400 flywheel) with the 82-92 F-body Spec Stage 3 clutch pressure plate inside a Lakewood bellhousing. That clutch/pressure plate is rated for 650# torque. Yeah, I like overkill.
