flywheel part number help asap
A while ago I bought a supposed '87 lb9 flywheel from a member on here. I have had problems ever since then. The part number on the flywheel is 14088647N, which I can't find any information about. I found that the corvette and camaro flywheel part number is 14088646. What do I have and is it my problem? I need to know by tomorrow morning, since I'm using a bay at work.

What problems are you having? 14088647N is not a good GM #, probably a casting #. If it's the right size, fits your crank, has the correct counterweight it is probably correct. 14088646 is the lightweight nodular flywheel which is probably what you have (GM makes casting #'s close to the actual part #).

That casting number matches my old flywheel. It is a 153 tooth liteweight nodular iron wheel for a 1 piece rear main seal externally balanced crankshaft.
Its a good flywheel if its still in good shape like we discussed earlier.
The flywheel PN is 14088646 according to the 2002 edition of the GM performance parts catalog.
Is your engine a 1 piece or 2 piece rear main seal?

Tomorrow is the big day, it all goes back correctly. I pulled the transmission tonight and played with the shifter and it felt fine. Wish me luck, I start at 9 am CST. Hopefully will be done around noonish without any hickups and be able to enguage any gear with ease.
