I've got a posi rear out of an '87 IROC. The bonehead I got the rear from had completely dismantled it trying to use the disc brakes on an old car. Anyhow he managed to take out 2 of those little springs that go in there right where the opening is to get at the C-clips. I'm going nuts trying to figure out how to compress these and get them back in there. Anybody know how......??

 

put them in a vise and compress them then hold them with safety wire. install and cut the safety wire and pull the wire out

 

Just make sure that thing doesn't fly out of the safety wire. I think the load on them is somewhere around 400 lbs. but who knows i could be wrong.

 

guess i should of mentioned i had a broke piece of wire pierce my nose once

 

Thanks, I've sort of been trying that but the wire I have is not near strong enough. I need to get some safety wire somewhere. I figured somebody had to have run into this one before......
