i need help, 700r4 selection
in spite of the recent death of my 700r4 in my 87 iroc z28, i am looking for a new one
i was looking at bowtie overdrives level 2 and have a few questions, would this bolt directly into my 87, or is ther any differences?
and if anyone has any other suggestions, feel free to let me know

yes, it will bolt in. you may have to use your original extension housing and speedo gears, but nothing too serious. everything should be direct replacement.
do you have a pic of your ram air intake? i was curious and looking for ideas.

what do you mean by extension housing?, will there be any parts that i will have to buy to do this, or will it be just transferring parts over
its the same ram air intake that can be seen here

ok. thanks. what did you use for the ducting? i couldn't find any flexible ducting that was 8".
everything should change over from your existing transmission. the tail housing is what the torque arm mounts to. the speedo gears will be so you can keep your speedometer accurate. four bolts hold on the tail housing.speedo gear housing is in the tail housing so that is simple there. the one on the output shaft of the transmission will be the more difficult. it has a slip that you hold down while tapping the drive speedo gear off. teh driven speedo gear is in the speedo housing mounted in the tail housing.

I currently have a Bowtie Overdrive's level 2 tranny in my car now, it's been in there for over two years, hasn't given me much trouble. It rips thru the gears easily. I can break the tires loose in second gear with no problem.

how much power are you maiking out of your 355?
on the other hand, has anyone heard about or been using a tranny from advance auto, i can get one made to handle 475 hp/500 torque with a shift kit and everything. i was wondering if anyone knows how good these are

I say about 380 hp out of the crank, but that's just a guess. It's run a best of 12.89 in the 1/4.
I had the guys at Bowtie Overdrive send me two pistons to put in the 1-2 accumulator (instead of the springs) to make the 1-2 shift even firmer and it made a world of difference.
