F'ed up flywheel
The other day I noticed that my car was leaking some trans fluid, so I jacked up the car and couldn't find the problem. I thought it was the pump gasket so I pulled the trans to replace it. The pics below are how I found my wheel. Does anyone know how on earth...
1. My car still started
2. It ran
3. Ran without any odd noises
Also I put a new flywheel on and the gasket and it still leaks... Why would that be I have an idea but i just wanted some input from other people.
Also... I'm thinking about just putting a 350 turbo trans in the car do you have buy a custom driveshaft???

Alright man, it is possible that the grenaded flywheel caused your tranny leak. Recently I had my 700R4 rebuilt and the rebuilder wanted me to bring in my flexplate to make sure the ring gear wasn't warped or welded on crooked. Apparently, if this is the case, at high RPM, the flexplate will cause the input shaft on the tranny to wobble and cause the front of the tranny to leak. He was in the middle of repairing a 700R4 that this had happened to. Brand new rebuild on the tranny, brand new SFI flexplate (too bad the ring gear was warped), within a month the tranny started leaking out the front. He tore it apart and showed me the input shaft into the tranny..... on one end it was worn on one side and on the other end, it was worn on the other side.... evidence of the 'wobbling' due to the bad flexplate.

It still ran because the center hub section lodged in the flexplate and allowed the torque converter to continue to turn. That sort of thing can cause damage to the trans if it was allowed to go on long enough.
As for warpage, I had the same problem with mine. My trans is dead, apparently due to a bad TC and or other problems, and I suspect its due to excessive distortion of the flexplate. I got a replacement high end TCI one (too late to help the trans) and that was as flat as a pancake. Wish I had used that one to start with
