Need some suggestions for my diff
Well as i am planning on building up a 383 and possibly a blower ontop of it i know my stock diff isnt going to handle to power. So i was wondering what would be the best way to do this?
The car is a daily driver, will see the track maybe once or twice a year. It is going to be behind an auto tranny so it will have a bit of a cushon between all that power. So its just a car to go back and forth to work with a bit of tearing up the streets on friday night.
What would be my best option, i dont want to build a bulletproof $5000 rearend. Just something that will get me around without blowing up if some dude gets cocky in a civic beside me.
Spool/locker/limited slip/posi?
The 82-90s are 26 spline axles right?

You definatly dont want a spool in a street car. Your 10 bolt probably wont last behind a blown 383 unless your having traction issues. You might want to look into a 9 inch or 12 bolt rearend. Itll cost way less than $5000.
These essentally are the same thing. They put traction to both rear wheels instead of just one. The differential type is really just personal preferance and budget.

Blown 383.............Detroit Locker......they are almost indestructable............I said almost .........9" or 12 bolt is probably as good as the other. And as many splines on the axles as possible.
