Engine: LG4
Transmission: th-700
stock 700

got an 84 z28. i have no torque in first gear and the tranny doesnt shift out until almost 6000 when floored. is this normal? i have absolutly no power in first.

No Torque or power in first? care to explain that a little better...Bogging...hesitation...smoking...just doenst seem fast?

No 6000rpm for it to shift is not normal lol.

Check you TV cable adjustment...there are post ups on adjusting it everywere search around.

not bogging down, sounds wide open but there is no pick up. i do get some smoke. white smoke

If the car is in gear, and the engine revs, and the car does not move (or barely moves) it sounds like it is time for a new trans. Unless I misunderstand your description. Smell the fluid. If burnt, put a fork in it.

no, the tranny responds fine. it just seems to have a low pick up until second. my top end is decent for a stock 84.

I would go back to basics. Vacuum check the engine, tune up, check air cleaner, fuel filter for blockage etc. The transmisiions job is to couple the engine to the trans(converter) yhen manipulate gears into the needed ratios in power or reduction. If you are hitting all gears without clutches slipping, you likely have an engine or chassis problem. Go back to the basics and check. Brake caliper hanging up etc.Good luck.
