Gforce T5 mainshaft: esoteric question. What2do?

Ordered a gforce gearset (helical synchronized) for my t5. I decided it best to get the 9310 mainshaft instead of using the stock one. The tech said he isn't going to make any Chevy mainshafts for four weeks. However, he said a Ford mainshaft will work if I didn't want to wait that long. It's identical except for speedo gear location and spline count. He would relocate that gear. I would then use a Ford slip yoke and a conversion u-joint. He said it would be stronger because Ford is 28 spline vs 27 for GM. The tailhousing bushing is the same on Ford and GM T5s too. I don't see it being to much of a problem. But is there anything else? Should I do it now or wait for the 27 spln shaft and keep it more closer to "normal"?

I'd wait.

Why bother dealing with a Ford mainshaft that's really not meant to be in a GM T-5, don't care how much it's been "adapted" to fit.

I mean, how much stronger can a 28 spline input shaft really be compared to a 27 spline? I'd bet it's not much stronger if any.

-Just my 2 cents...

Thanks. I agree the strength difference will be nil. The tech assured me the shafts are identical except for output splines and bulge for the spdo gear. Both of the GF gm/ford shafts use same GF gearsets. So it won't really matter when said and done. I would prefer keeping it simple and keeping it chevy. Ultimately it's up to me but I wanted to hear 2nd, 3rd, or more opinions, if possible.
