rearend rebuild
I am thinking about getting the rearend in my car rebuilt or doing it myself and was wondering how much i would be looking at to bring it back to say like a bit better than stock with a limited slip or something related? i am not wanting dragstrip level stuff cause this car is never going to have bigger than say mabe a 3.4 and from what i have read even taking that engine to its limits will only get like mabe 300hp
or so maxed out with turbos and stuff. so whereabouts would i set on cost? i want to replace everything that wears out. I have looked around but i have not found any whole rebuild kits in my searching.

look for a stock posi from a JY, it'd be cheaper then buying a new one ($450)....
I'm rebuilding my rear now, it doesn't require a lot of super special tools (although i'm having a hell of a time removing the carrier, i'm getting a gear shop to do that for me...).
If you swap gears you'll need a dial indicator and magnetic base. (or I guess if you install a posi).
you may need outer axle bearings (aka wheel bearings), and seals, $60 or so. If you replace ALL the bearings in the rear, it gets expensive, as there are like 6 bearings total, about $20 per.... you can get a rebuild kit, for $120 or so.... Check rockauto.com, I know they have a kit on there, you can at least get a p/n and see what's in the kit and go from there.
if I were you, i'd just get a posi rear out of a late 3rd gen, and replace only what's needed (seals, fluid). That should last you.
