3rd 4th gen axel part interchangeability
I bought a used 4th gen axel from a friend, and then I found out the right tube was bent due to an accident(dont have to pay for it if it's too badly damaged). I was wondering if I would encounter any problems if I just try to swap the gears and posi and brake parts onto my axel. (I have a 10 bolt with a worn posi -- 180k miles...) Is the spline count the same? Anything else I should worry about, aside from the chance the parts may be damaged?
Ive seen it done with a TORQ-SENS worm gear diff, i wasnt invovled directly but no horror stories were told to me about it. Do not mix used ring and pinion gearsets. they are manufactured in sets that do not interchange even if they are the same ratio. I would replace the pinion seal and re-set the pinion depth and turning torque, depending on your financial situation, and your mechnical ability try it with the used gears first, or just get new gears and be done.

Your 92 will have 28 spline axles the same as a 4th gen. You can pull the gears and posi out and install them into your 92's diff. Brakes I don't know but I don't think there's any difference.
