Studdering while shifting?
Hey guys, I don't know if this is the appropriate thread to post this question, but:
Whenever I shift my car from park to drive or park to reverse, etc., the car shudders and the gears don't seem to lock properly. I was wondering what that could be caused by, and if you guys had any suggestions as to how to fix it.
Thanks.

I'm not to familiar with this, could you tell me where the cable is and how to check it?
Much appreciated, thank you.

I meant the shifter cable. The cable connects to the trans on the driverside. The cable comes through the trans tunnel near the driverside floor pan. It should be connected to the arm on the trans. Lift the car and grab the cable near the arm and see if it moves or slides back and forth in the selector lever. Also check the nut on the back of the cable connector. If its loose then you found your problem. To adjust it if it's loose then put the trans in nuteral by grabbing the selector arm push it foward until it stops, then bring it back two clicks and the trans should be in neutral. You can test it by rotating the rear wheels. Then go inside the car and move the ****fter into neutral. Go back under the car and grab the shifter cable but don't move other than to put the bolt/pin into the selector's hole on the trans. set it into the hole and thread the nut onto the bolt/pin. hand tighten it down and move the shifter inside the car back into park. I think the nut is then torqued to about 12-18 ft lbs.
