Car: 88 Trans am
Engine: high comp vette engine.
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 308
700r4 to 4l60e
i need to know what i need to swap my old tranny to a 4l60e. my friend has a 4l60e for $60 rebuilt but it was in a blazer so it has a transfer case on it what do i do to make it work in my car.

for the 4x4 trans you will have to swap the output shaft to make it work with a car driveshaft and then you will need a computer to shift the trans. TCI makes a retro kit for this, I believe it's called the T-COM. I am assuming the blazer was at least a 4.3L or the trans won't even bolt up. Plus, if you are putting a V6 trans behind a V8, the internals won't last long.

there are fewer clutch packs for the V6 trans which means less holding power and faster wear on the internals. It will work, but it is not recommended.
