No Kickdown/Downshift in 700-R4

I recently installed a B&M shift kit for a 700r4 in a 91 Camaro.
After properly adjusting the TV cable the car shifts firm and at exactly the correct speeds and rpms as it should. But...

No matter what gear the car has shifted into or what speed it is going in WILL NOT downshift no matter how much throttle is applied (50%, 75%, 100%), not from 4-3 , 4-2 , or 3-2 and sometimes the car will remain in 2nd gear after stopping and then take off in 2nd.

I know B&M makes a kit to prevent a 4-3(OD-D) downshift at WOT, but this should NOT be included in the transpak, and wouldn't explain the lack of a 3-2 downshift either.

The car will easily downshift manually.

The 1-2 upshift is much more firmer than the 2-3 shift which results in a temporary rpm flare...I believe this is caused by the servo, though.

servo causes quicker firmer shifts, not rpm flare.

on *some* shift kits, they have a *full manual* option to make it so that you have to manually shift. But seeing as how its half shifting....seems like you missed a check ball, or put it in the wrong spot. also, soe trash could have gotten between the valve body gasket and it could be causing pressure to vent of into another hydrualic circuit.

If it ran fine before you did it....chances are you did something wrong *no offense* ... pull the pan, drop the valve body and take a peak.

Clarify: I have NOT installed a new servo. Using a servo kit or Corvette is said to correct the rpm flare that sometimes occurs with the stock servo.

I do understand that this means something is incorrect although (like everyone else) I would swear up and down that it was done exactly as it was supposed to.

What I was hoping in that maybe someone would have an idea as a way to pinpoint the error or location of the error due to the characteristics I have discribed.

The kit uses the stock plate, but asks you to bore out a couple holes and use the (2) new, provided gaskets.

ah. did you de-burr the holes with a small file? the sharp edge left behind could cause a hydrualic circuit cross over.

when you pull on the tv cable at the throttle, is there spring tension? just making sure its actually hooked up in the tranny.

other than that i think it may be a check ball. not sure which though. i have a diagram where they all go somewhere around here, ill try to find it and post it for ya.

I followed the diagram with the instructions for check ball placement. The B&M kit does REQUIRE you to leave 2 or 3 check ***** out. I am afraid I am just going to have to tear everything apart again. I might relplace the TV cable(anyone think this is worth it) drop in a corvette servo and change up the shift kit to the heavy duty setting instead of the street/strip (ride-along-females haven't been appreciating the neck snapping action)
