slipping out of park
Can someone please help me . Back in Nov I got a 1987 Z28 Iroc.
She needs some TLC but is a great car. Yesterday I went out and started her up to warm up .I went back into my house . About 2 min later my neighbor from across the street came over . Betty
[ my car ] had gone across the street and into his tree. She was still in park .I'm taking her to a shop tomorrow .I'm so sad over the whole thing .Thank *** no one got hurt . And all the happen to the car was a cracked spoiler .

The shifter linkage may need adjusting. If that is fine then the park pawl is worn, or the lugs on the ring gear are worn. If this is the case, the pawl and lugs are likely worn together and should be changed as a pair.

how many miles does it have on it
if they're really up there like 150-200 thousand then you should have the transmission overhauld it could be slipping because of the clutches and the gear selector swith being gumed up by burnt fluid and clutch material

She has 155 thousand .Thank you for the help you two .I 'm taking the car in today to have it looked at ..It has been hard not to drive her the last two days .
I did get the transmission looked at back in Nov. They said it looks great and like it had just been rebuilt .

It was the bracket that holds the cable had come loose .
She is all better and back on the road
