is a 4000rmp shift correct on a 700r4?? the tv cable is new & is adjusted per instructions....any ideas?

it sounds like the valve is sticking. i was able to get mine "unstuck" by unhooking the cable from the carb, putting it in reverse and pulling it back and forth hard several times. try that before you spend any money on it.

 

did yours do the same thing?

 

yes, it would not shift until 3500-4000 rpm's with a new tv cable.

with it in rev. and idling, pull the cable out. you should hear the engine rpm's drop like you are putting it into gear. if you don't then the valve is stuck. it took 10-15 times of pulling it but it finally worked and i have not had any problems since then.

 

could be the governor just set to a low rpm. either buy a 5200rpm unit or recal. it yourself with a B&M kit.
