700-R4 value?

I am interested in changing my 86' Firebird over from automatic to a 5-speed. Since I wouldnt have any use for my auto tranny if I swapped I was wondering how much it would be worth. It is a 700-R4 that was tottaly rebuilt about 250 miles ago. If shifts perfect. I would also include the shifter with it. It has a B&M mega shifter. How much would the tranny and the shifter be worth together.

rule of thumb for determining the value of ANYTHING

"It's only worth what someone is willing to pay"

On average, you can get $100 for the shifter (depending on what it is, what u pay for it new, etc) and if you can prove it was rebuilt recently then you might get $500 for it.

However, even 250 miles, you could have killed it by not installing/setting it up correctly.

This is true. I do have all the paper work verifying that it was rebuilt. It was rebuilt and installed by a guy that does alot of trannys for race cars and that sorta thing to I hope it would be installed correctly.
