Trans Not Shifting

I have a 88 camaro and it had a 305 in it and i put a 350 in it and now the trans will not shift out of 1st gear while driving. It shifted fine with the 305 and when i put the 350 in it it will not shift out of first. It has all of the other gears but 1st, it just red-lines. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Be sure the tv cable is properly adjusted. If so, pop off the governor cap, remove governor and inspect it. The gear should have no missing pieces and the valve should move freely when the weights are squeezed in and out, while gear faces straight up.

That is it. On the side you cannot see, it a gear. Pull it straight out. It will rotate as it is removed. You can then inspect it.
