2nd gen disk brake rear end?

i was walking thew the local u-pull-it yard the other day and saw a very nice late 70's camaro setting up on blocks. the first thing i noticed was that it had rear disk breaks on it. i know the scarsity of 3rd gen rear disk set ups and wonderd if the 2nd gen is a good match or an easy swap into my 86 iroc. i know there are some issues with the 7.5 rears in my car. what size is the late 70's rear end and are they any stronger than my 7.5? is it worth the work?

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
No it is not an easy swap. It has a leaf-spring setup; these cars have coil springs with lower control arms and a torque arm that bolts to the center section on a set of bolt holes that the 2nd gen doesn't have.

Yes it's stronger.

The disk brakes on the 2nd gen are the same old cast-iron Saginaw system that sucks so bad on the early ones of these cars, not worth swapping in. If you really want disk brakes, get the rare out of a 90-92; with the aluminum PBR calipers. They are VASTLY superior.
