Bad TC? Help.
My 92 has 63k miles on it. Just recently I started feeling a thunk when the TC locks in D and OD under load(meaning anything more then slow acceleration). It will also thunk when it unlocks(Going up a hill). Now in reverse the transmission "whines" on and off.. not a good sound. My question is, is it possible it's just a convertor gone bad? Perhaps the bolts on the convertor are loose? Thanks.

Yes to both questions. Look at the flexplate when you are under there. Be sure it is not cracked. The converter has an internal endplay spec. It can be checked by a shop with the proper equiptment. .024 is the max allowable end play for a 30 spline converter.
