wierd smelling 700r4

Whenever I get a little throttle happy with my car, its tranny smells real hot, it will stink for a good 5 to 10 minutes, is this a common problem at all? What is it a sign of? Should I kick up the pace a little on looking for my manual tranny swap parts? It still shifts firm, barks the tires going into 2nd and sometimes 3rd if its running good, with no shift kit and the car is bone stock.

My transmission smelled funny after I got on it for a while. Then my shifting went haywire, then it broke the 2-4 band. A transmission should not smell after flooring it. I would probably look for the manual parts.
