autometer electric speedo with t5

ok, this is a 2 part question. i have a nissan pickup with a 305 tpi from an 86 camaro. that car was originally equipped with an automatic, but i bought a t5 to put behind it. i'm not sure what the tranny came out of, but it bolted up with no input shaft issues and did fine on the test drive.

1. do i need to do anything with the ecm due to this?
2. how do i make this work with my autometer electric (programmable) speedo?

i've tried my best to research this whole vss thing and don't quite get it. there are several "speedometer sensors" listed on advance auto parts website. and unlike on my nissan, it doesn't make you select auto or manual. can anybody point me in the right direction?

If the T5 has a VSS, that signal needs fed to the ECM if it's not already. If the park neutral switch is grounded (to quell the SES light from lighting) then your swap is not working correctly. The autometer will work off a GM VSS signal.

Selecting the right VSS is a pain in the *** due to lack of application info, I'm sure. BTDT. Get the part numbers, see if they can order them in (or find them at another store) and you'll know rightaway whether it's a T5 or 700 VSS. Or get the PN and contact the mfgr. Do your research. I have in the past and it's annoying to pick the right one.
