2.77 to 3.42

I swapped my 2.77 9 bolt to a 10 bolt 3.42. I just called chevy and they no longer have the gears for the 700R4 trans, but told me I need a 15 tooth drive gear and a 41 tooth driven gear. I looked at this site 700R4, 700R4 Speedometer Gears, 4L60, 700R4 Speedometer Calibrations, 700R4 !

The only drive gear to accomodate 3.42 is 17 tooth. So my question is, is the stock drive gear 17 teeth and what is the stock overal diameter of the wheels and tires..26"? If so, I would need a 45 tooth driven gear and still use my stock drive gear.

Thanks

~Ted

but will that mesh with the stock drive gear and fit in the stock housing?

I thought the same thing, but after looking at the driven gear, it floats on the shaft. The 45 will just ride back a little further, but it engages with the drive gear just fine. I put the 45 on mine after swapping from 2.73 to 3.42 and have several thousand miles on it woth no problems.
