I have replaced the rear end in my 1988 IROC. it is installed with panhard bar, lower control arms, shocks and torque arm in place and tight. The panhard bar and control arms are sphon and adjustable. With all but the rear sway bar bolted down the rear end does not appear to be centered, the drive shaft universal is contacting the exhaust. Do I use the panhard bar to pull it toward the drivers side and centered until I can drive it to a shop for a 4 wheel alignment?

I have a Lakewood adj. panhard and i got the same problem. Don't touch the control arms. Use the panhard bar to center it. It should only take you 15 minutes to get it right.

Thanks Slowmaro91RS, That is the only option I can see. On jack stands so it wont even take 15 min to try adjusting the panhard. My first rear end swap and a learning experience.

Set the control arms to the same length as stock unless you're lowered or raised in the rear. Once you jack up the rear put jack stands on the frame rails where the lca's connect and keep the jack under the rear. Every time you make an adjustment jack up the rear untill it just starts to lift off the jack stands and check the fender gap on both sides. I'm about 1/4 inch off with mine and it was a last second adjustment before I took it to the drag strip.

The front end is lowered and the existing adjustment on the control arms seems ok so far. I adjusted the panhard enough to move the universal joint away from the exhaust. I will have to wait on the fine adjustment until I get the brakes sorted out. I am installing pbr brakes and the emergency brake bracket on the caliper is not what I need when compared to the pictures posted on this site. Brackets on the caliper have to come off because of contact with the rearend hardware, car is an auto until I get the drivetrain swap completed so I can live with out emergency brakes for a few days

You should be good then.
