transmission in jeep

Hi guys, I don't have a camaro or trans am but I do have the tpi in my jeep.
I was wondering what kind of aftermarket speedo can I get when using a 700R? I am converting my gauges off my wrangler and was wondering if there was any of you out there using autometer, if so what model #?

also I don't quite understand the whole convertor lock up thing could someone give some barney style lessons on what it does I want to get good gas on this jeep.

Thanks

Mike

Ther is a large plate inside the torque converter that has friction material bonded to it. When the converter "locks up" it pushes the plate against the inner shell of the converter causing everything inside to lock up and turn as 1 unit. This eliminates the internal slipping that occurs in all converters until it locks. This reduces engine rpm and lets the trans run cooler. Lock up typically is worth 1 or 2 mpg. Worth having, in my opinion.

thats enough savings on gas to do it!
What kind of kits are there out there?
I know that B&M makes a convertor lock up kit, any more?

My favorite way to lock it up is with a one wire lock up kit. It allows the trans to lock in 4th geat only and requires 1) 12 volt ignition wire to go to the trans.
I usually leave them stock, or go this route.

Where can I get one of those. Is there a thread for making this, it sounds simple and cheap!

as far as the speedo, if it's cable, then just run a GM type cable, if not, either use one of the aftermarket electronic speedos, or switch to cable and go that route. For tc lock-up, I just run a toggle switch. Ground one wire, apply 12vdc to the other and you're locked up. Flip the switch when you're cruising, leave it un-locked when you're not.

TPI motors make GREAT 4x4/truck motors. Throttle response out the wazoo and tons of low-end grunt. I put one in a buddies 95 4wd Tahoe. 350, ported vortec heads, ported intake, roller rockers, shorty headers and 2.5 all-mandrel bent duals with an h-pipe, 700R4, 3.73 gears, 33" tires. Gets around 17-18 in town, 21-22 highway and its an absolute blast to drive. Blasts through mud...got any stumps/redwoods that you need moved? - I can't wait to get my 'burban done.

Thanks guy, that's exactly the reason I'm puttin this motor in my jeep, it's gort alot of torque and easier to install then the newer engines too.
I hope to get about 400 HP and around the same on Torque
Thanks again
