TV CABLE NOT RACHETING

Hey guys since my motor swap my trans has been actin a little strange. It was shiften way early and missed third gear at WOT sometimes. So I went to adjust the TV cable and it won't rachet. It just stays all the way in when I pull the throttle lever to WOT. So I had to drive and guess to get a good setting, which I finally found. I still don't get lockup all the time. But it seems to shift great. I was gonna unplug the convertor from the trans so it stops all together but I'm not sure. Sorry about the long post but why won't the cable rachet? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Either you've got the wrong cable, or the wrong bracketry for your application.

Everything was swapped over from my 305. Unless someone before me changed either of them. If I get a new cable how difficult is it to install?
