Kickdown Cable

I had my plenum off while replacing my EGR Valve, and since I have slp runners, its hard to tighten my tv cable, so I pulled it back to do a casual tightening. well this time it was different. Its almost like I pulled it to hard and I don't know if it was like that before. Obviously there is the slider that is behind the D button. It has the cable from the trans attaced going through it to the the throttle body. There is a protective rubber covering the actual wire. My question is, does this protective rubber permanently connect to the Slider thats behind the D button? Help is appreciated. I'm afriad to drive the car because the trans has quite a few miles on it and I don't want to burn it up.

Where the red is, the black part pulls back to reveal the silver wire, the actual cable.
The Blue is the "slider" that moves when you press the D button. this should tighten/loosen the cable connected to the trans?
The Green is where the slack was at in the cable. I'm just worried that the cable is messed up and the slack went from near the throttle body and moved farther down near the trans.

All help is appreciated!
