700r4 slipping, and TC questions...

first, i have a less then a year old 700r4, the company that built it started off on the wrong side of the tool box anyways, so they replaced it 3 times the first week.

The 4th tranny had a transgo shift kit, and a whole bunch of things they reffered to as "goodies."

here's my problamo...

My previous two trannies(stock and 1st rebuild) shifted like champs, first gear was an instantaneous chirp of the tires. But i also had the stock engine, 305 tpi...

Before the 1st rebuild went i added a carbed 350, and the tranny blew from a bad TV cable, my bad...

SO here i am, i have the tranny the company built me 7 months ago, and i'm running an estimated 450hp crank with my new engine.

The first gear shift is very crappy, always has been with this tranny, at part throttle its crisp and instantaneous, at full throttle, its as if they limited the line pressure so much that the engine over powers the band.

What is the malfunction here? This tranny has never had full throttle crisp of the stock and 1st rebuild.

Second... the cam i have in the car is advertised for its rpm as 2k-7k.... the torque converter i have is 2300rpm, and seemingly very small for the cam, when i put thecar into gear the engine drops way too much, i have to idle at 1100rpm just to keep it from stalling 75% of the time, but even still sometimes she will stall... What TC speed should i aquire?

Thanks, and hope for a speedy responce...

Double check with your cam manufacturer as to what stall they recommend for the setup you have. Second, did the latest rebuild include any valve body mods? This is part of the reason I don't let anybody else work on my stuff, you never know for sure what has been done to it. I would check the easy stuff first - tv cable, correct convertor. If you can, get a trans pressure gauge and take it for a test drive and record what the pressures are at each shift and at idle. B&M's website has the chart for what the pressure should be, I can't remember off the top of my head.

The ATSG manual for 700r4's also has the line pressure specs for each gear and explains how to check them.
