Here is a link to tech info for many axles used by GM. I stumbled upon it while searching for info for the borg warner 9-bolt. It is a 257 page pdf file apparently used for educational purposes. As stated by DRAIN89 in his article "evertything I know about 9-bolts", the 9-bolt is also known as the 'M78' or the '78-series'. It is referred to as the 'Model 78' in this link. There is very useful service info for this and many other rear axles. There are also some diagrams with legends in the last thirty or so pages. Hope this info is helpful.
