all fluid fell out help
k, so I went to go to work, stopped at a light, went to hit the gas and noticed, hey... i wasn't moving. Got out and sure enough there was a trail of transmission fluid leading all the way to my house, culminating in a large puddle which I notice is now underneath my car. I push it home (always a thrill) then get it up on jacks after work, taking a look to see if maybe my pan rusted out or a line fell off or something... then I notice that in the rounder section of the underneath of the tranny there is a small hole. I have a 1988 automatic tranny I think its the 700? anyways, I notice a small perfectly circular hole that looks like there should be a screw or a plug of some sorts in it... I can't find anything in my Haynes about it, is this my drain plug? and does that mean my tranny simply drained? there was no catastrophic stop/crashing/grinding or anything like that, so I'm praying no damage was done to it.. But is that little hole supposed to be plugged? with what if it is? is this how all my fluid fell out?

i might be able to in a little while, well I don't know what else could lead to all the fluid just falling out of my tranny within a matter of minutes?

A hole in the pan, or a cooler line maybe. Probably too much mess underneath to see where the fluid went?

Someone could have added a drain plug to the pan at some point and it decided to fall out? There isn't supposed to be a hole in that trans pan.

right now theres a lotta fluid underneath, i've been workin 2 jobs for the last 2 days, i'm gonna get it up on some ramps today to get under it and see, I'm havin trouble gettin a view to the tranny lines, cuz I just don't know how it would all fall out within like 2 minutes... I checked the pan and it doesn't seem damaged or have a hole in it, and the tiny little hole in the rounder part next to the pan doesn't look big enough to let it all fall out like that, i'm gonna go buy some fluid and get it on ramps now, run it for a second and see where it is coming from....
