hey everybody i just joined the site, fishing around trying to find some info, last nite i just broke my fith rear ,shadered the spiders again on a burnout, tired of it too. cant really afford a 9 inch, trying to make the rear a little stronger, ihave a couple options,i have a mini spool i can throw back in again but it will only accomadate 26 spline axles, i have to buy c clip eliminators,
option 2 ,i can buy auburns posi unit and use my extra 28 spline axles
option 3 i can buy powertrax streetable locker it only will work with 26 spline axles to.
im afraid of the auburn posi unit cause it has spiders too. anybody running any of this stuff in there 3rd gen
and thanks for allowing me to be apart of
glenn

the powertrax units are known for failing under street use. mw66nova(i believe that's his screen name) broke one behind his 305....its a 12sec 305, but still...
. - As for the mini spool, also either it will break or it will break your axles under street use. They're only even reccomended for roundy-round use, not even drag racing, none-the-less street.
- I run the powertrax in my 4x4 toy truck and love it for that application, but I can't see it being very feasable or strong on the street for performance use. Buy a decent posi and run the 28 spline axles. - If you can find a 4th gen torsional in a j/y or somewhere, they're a good/inexpensive unit.

stay far away from that damn locker.I have one and I ABSOLUTELY hate it.going straight it works fine but if you're turning it makes horrible banging sounds and it jerks the car like crazy.Trust me get a posi and be done with it.
